The way we live has changed dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic first entered our lives.

According to the WHO or World Health Organization, the COVID-19 pandemic triggers 25% increase in prevalence of anxiety and depression worldwidehave increased drastically.

So is COVID gone or have we just eliminated it in our heads and decided to just push forward with life?

With the year 2023 (for real?) approaching, here are some permanent things that are here to stay, whether or not COVID is here, or not here.

  • People ready to snap 

It's kind of odd to go out and be around people, but at the same time you can see the same look of anxiety on other people's faces, so it's somewhat comforting?

While you may be experiencing serious turmoil, knowing that others are experiencing the same exact thing as you, can help you find solace in the fact that it's less lonely, giving you a chance to achieve inner peace.

Chances are that the pandemic has caused you more stress and anxiety. Even if you do not have an anxiety disorder, you may struggle with feelings of fear and helplessness more often.

Some signs you are struggling with anxiety may include: 

  • Ruminating on thoughts
  • Sense of impending doom
  • Tense muscles
  • Irritability
  • Impatience
  • Shakiness
  • Sweating

If you identify with any of these signs, don’t try to hide or run away from them. Instead, acknowledge that you are dealing with hardships and realize your emotions are valid.

Once you validate your own emotions, you can take action to ease your mind. 

Establish a Daily and Weekly Routine

Your routine that you had is gone; like gone-gone. Structure and routines can be calming and comforting, but also can get boring.

Sit down and think about how you want your days and weeks to flow from this moment forward.

How will you start your days? Do you find you are more productive in the morning or at night?

If you are working from home, are you required to be at the computer for a set number of hours or can you work on a task-based assignments?

When will you exercise? What day will you clean the house?

Think of a system that will give you a sense of normalcy. 

Don't be afraid to switch it up. If you find you are losing attention quickly, try doing something new that takes advantage of your motivation at that point in time.

Really pay attention to your brain and what it likes out of it's new routine!

Prioritize Your Me Time.

Take time every day for your own self-care. This may involve taking a bath, reading a book, stretching, listening to music, or smoking with a glass one hit pipe.

Prioritize Meaningful Connections

Prioritizing your meaningful relationships post covid are important ways to reduce anxiety. Get out there and talk to the people you want to, that want to hear from you too.

It would appear that every person on Earth has had their circle shrink since COVID. This means that when you get together with the people that have been supporting you over the past few years, it's much more meaningful.

However, if you didn't see someone and haven't chatted since before the Pandemic, that doesn’t mean you need to completely lose the connection, or that it's dead.

Reach out to your loved ones via video calls, phone calls, text messaging, or emailing. 

Human connection can lower your stress levels and give you a sense of belonging, but it takes effort.

Try to find the mental strength to make the first move, because whoever it is, wants to hear from you!

Exercise

Staying active can help relieve anxiety and release feel-good chemicals in your brain. There are so many options when it comes to working out, including: 

  • Running
  • Walking
  • Jumping jacks
  • Pushups
  • Lifting weights
  • Yoga
  • Stretching 

Even something as simple as cleaning the house can give you the movement you need. Remember, any physical activity is better than doing none! 

Prioritize Your Sleep

Getting good rest and the most sleep possible is the key to killing the leftover anxiety. These tips and more from the Me Time Box Products blog.

If you want your brain and body to function at optimal levels, you’ll want to aim for a good sleep every night.

Most people need seven or eight hours every night. If you’re struggling to have a consistent sleep habit, you may want to have set bedtimes and wake times.
